Fishing/Ice report 1/22/20
After the last cold front we’ve shifted deeper with the Otters and wheel house spots. We’ve found the deeper water in 28-32ft on the mud is the deal, but the gravel in the same depth is no slouch either. Just remember please take it slow when reeling fish from these depths. VMC spoons in UV green fire and Perch/gold are still our top colors for jigging spoons, tipage for the spoons..as always fatheads. #6 octopus hooks in red and orange and are great for set-lines. Remember LONG fluorocarbon leaders on the set-lines 10-15ft or more doesn’t hurt.
If you can find them shiners are definitely the minnow of choice on the dead sticks and set-lines but small 3-4” suckers are still catching plenty of walleye. We’re finding 15”~22” of ice but always check with your resort on current ice conditions. We’re looking forward to another great weekend of fishing!
